Costco Corporation out of Issaquah has apparently authorized the development of a wholesaler location in Bonney Lake, according to Dave Brown, a third-party marketer for the company.

Nothing official regarding construction of one of the massive stores has passed through the city. But unofficially, representatives of Costco have met with city officials and the Chamber of Commerce, according to contacts in the city and chamber. Costco headquarters was called for comment, but did not return calls.

But for a store to open in the city limits, Costco will need to go through necessary procedure and that hasn’t occurred yet.

“Depending on where they go, they may have to go through a public hearing (for rezoning),” Community Development Director John Vodopich said.

Vodopich mentioned WSU Forest, the Midtown area and the land from 214th Avenue to 244th Avenue as potential locations.
