UPDATED: Sheriffs call South Prairie shooting accidental

East Pierce Fire and Rescue today transported a shooting victim to a trauma center in Tacoma. The victim, a male, reportedly had life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. in the 22000 block of 131st Street East, in an unincorporated part of Pierce County near South Prairie.

According to Pierce County Sheriff's Spokesman Ed Troyer, the shooting appears to be accidental.

Pierce County Sheriff Deputies are investigating.
