Medical Examiner identifies pedestrian killed Saturday in Bonney Lake

A 47-year-old Bonney Lake man died Saturday night after being hit by a car while walking in the 10100 block of 214th Avenue East.

Pierce County Medical Examiners identified the man on Monday as Gary Slick.

According to witnesses, Slick was walking north on 214th and was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling in the same direction. Bystanders performed CPR on the man until emergency personnel arrived.

He was transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was placed under arrest for investigation of driving under the influence and vehicular assault. Following Slick's death,  the charges will be upgraded to vehicular homicide.
