Man set fire to neighbor's van, surrenders to police | Buckley

August 27, 2012 · Updated 4:16 PM

The Buckley man alleged to have set fire to a neighbor's box van Saturday night remains hospitalized at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Initial reports were the man had set his neighbor's home on fire, but information Monday indicated he set a van on fire. The van fire caught a garage and shop on fire. East Pierce Fire and Rescue firefighters were able to put the van and garage fire out before the house was threatened.

Early reports indicate the 52-year-old man was involved in a dispute with a neighbor over money. The neighbor reportedly escaped unharmed.

The incident occured in the 6800 block of 245th Avenue East.

The suspect apparently surrendered at the Buckley police station about 8:15 Saturday night and was then taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.

The Pierce County Prosecutor's Office said the man was not in custody as of Monday morning and charges have not been filed.
