East Pierce firefighters were called to the scene of a brush fire shortly before 7 p.m. Friday night. The fire was reported to be moving up the Elhi Hill in the area of the water tower. The definite origin is not known, but was initially reported to be from the 8000 block of 173rd Ave. in Sumner.
The fire was at the same site as a brush fire East Pierce extinguished yesterday evening. The cause in yesterday's case was believed to be discarded smoking materials.
Eastbound state Route 410 is closed at the bottom of Elhi Hill by 166th Avenue East Sumner for an indeterminate amount of time. Drivers going to Bonney Lake from Sumner are advised by East Pierce to take an alternate route.
