Fire in motor home spreads to house in Prairie Ridge

A fire that started in a motor home quickly spread to a one-story house on the 21600 block of 120 Street East in Prairie Ridge Thursday.

Firefighters from East Pierce Fire and Rescue were called at 6 p.m. and arrived to find smoke and flames coming from both the motor home and the nearby residence.

Six engines, one ladder truck and two medic units responded to the fire, including one engine from Buckley. The firefighters were on scene for more than four hours, extinguishing hot spots and assisting in preparing the motor home to be hauled away.

No one was injured. No nearby homes were in danger.

According to the Pierce County Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire started in the motor home that was parked next to the house. The investigation into the cause of the blaze is ongoing.
