Duplex fire displaces family in Bonney Lake

January 14, 2013 · 4:22 PM

Firefighters from East Pierce Fire and Rescue responded to a residential fire on the 21500 block of 104th Street Court East, in Bonney Lake, just after midnight Monday morning.

When firefighters arrived at the two-story duplex, smoke and flames were pouring from the front of the building. The family, who lived in the unit, had been alerted to the fire by smoke alarms and called 911 before evacuating the home.

Firefighters quickly battled the blaze, limiting the fire to the single unit. The unit next door was vacant at the time of the fire.

Fire officials estimate at least $25,000 in damage, mostly to the top floor bedroom where the fire originated. Due to severe smoke damage, the family will not be able to return to their home.

No one was injured in the fire. The cause is still under investigation.
