Final results certified by the county auditor

By Dennis Box

The Courier-Herald

The Nov. 8 election results were certified Nov. 29 by the Pierce County Auditor, putting an ending stamp on the 2005 election.

The season saw a new mayor elected in Bonney Lake, Neil Johnson, and the end of Bob Young's administration after eight years.

New mayors will also be taking office in Orting, Cheryl Temple, Sumner with Dave Enslow and Buckley, Pat Johnson.

Bonney Lake has 7,881 registered voters, according to the auditor, and about 49 percent voted in the election. About 48 percent voted across Pierce County.

In the last mayoral election (2001) when Young beat Sherri Bennett for his second term, about 35 percent of those registered voted.

In the 2004 presidential general election about 83 percent of registered voters in Bonney Lake cast their ballot and 78 percent in the county.
