Golf tournament sets record for chamber

The Enumclaw Area Chamber of Commerce rang up record profits during its annual golf tournament, staged last week at the local course.

The event attracted 112 golfers who enjoyed good weather and a day on the links, followed by dinner and awards.

The event clearly surpassed its goal of raising $10,000 (net), according to Cathy Rigg, chamber director. As of late last week, she had not received a final accounting, but was hoping the final tally might show a profit closer to $12,000.

The money, she said, goes for the general benefit of the chamber, its members and the community. Tournament profits are not earmarked for a particular cause.
