Carbonado residents can expect to see an increase in their garbage rates, beginning April 1.

At the last Town Council meeting, the council approved a rate increase for garbage services.

The rates, which are assessed bimonthly, have gone up about 50 cents. Residents who paid $13.50 for garbage services, for one trash can placed at the curb or in the alley, will now pay $14. Residents currently paying $18.90 for two trash cans, will now pay $19.40.

The town raised the rates because DM Disposal out of Puyallup, which provides the town's garbage services, raised the town's rates due to the increase in tipping fees, and the town needs to raise rates to reflect the increase.

The last time the town of Carbonado raised its garbage rates was April 1, 2003.
