New business allows owners to focus on primary goal

The owner of newly opened Business Writing Connections wants to provide the writing solutions local businesses need to focus on what they do best - running and growing their businesses.

"Whether you are selling services or a product, if your business is the best kept secret in town, you've got a problem," owner Patricia Rathbun said. "I want to take your thoughts, ideas and concepts and put them into easily-understood language and an eye-catching format that will help you expand your profit margins."

Rathbun has returned to her birth town of Enumclaw after attending Western Washington University and working in Bellingham for 10 years. "I know the personality of Enumclaw, and can also offer a fresh perspective of seeing it through new eyes. This area has certainly expanded since I've been away, but still holds the small-town charm and feeling that appeals to so many people and small businesses."

Business Writing Connections offers a broad range of business communication solutions, including press releases, brochures, advertisements, flyers, direct mailings, business letters, annual reports, technical manuals, resumes and cover letters. Services also include editing, proofreading and providing professional copy.

"You won't have to hire an expensive graphic artist for pictures, charts or diagrams," Rathbun said. "Graphics are part of my expertise - a one-stop business communication shopping experience," Rathbun noted.

Rathbun combines a journalism education coupled with real-world business writing experience. Graduating from Western Washington University with a journalism and photojournalism major in 1993 and a master's of education in 1997, she has published numerous articles in a local business magazines, written professional resumes and cover letters for clients of monster.com and provided varied desktop publishing services. She also has created marketing and public relation materials for non-profit organizations and local businesses in Whatcom County and Vancouver, B.C.
