Buckley cops bust meth lab

A tip from an informant led to a methamphetamine lab bust in Buckley last week.
Buckley police were informed of a possible meth lab at a motel in the 400 block of Main Street in the early morning hours of Oct. 28.
Police Chief Jim Arsanto said investigations began at 3 a.m. After an officer initially responding to the scene noticed a strong chemical odor coming from the room, other officers were called to respond, including Buckley officer Tom Chess, who is part of the Pierce County Clandestine Lab team.
When officers knocked on the door, they found a 24-year-old Enumclaw woman in the room, as well as what Arsanto said were all the makings of a methamphetamine lab, including some white powder later identified as methamphetamine.
The woman was placed into custody and the room was secured. Other members of the Pierce County lab team responded to interview the woman and tear down the room, disposing of all hazardous wastes.
Arsanto said because Chess is a part of the lab team, Pierce County responded and cleaned up the scene at no cost to Buckley, saving the city between $8,000 and $10,000.
