At a study session on April 27, Sumner City Council discussed how to alleviate traffic congestion and accidents at the intersection of Gary Street and Valley Avenue.

Possible solutions presented included redirecting traffic, but council is reluctant to disturb neighborhoods with more vehicles.

“I think the quickest way to wreck a neighborhood is to introduce a bunch of traffic,” Councilmember Cindi Hochstatter said.

Councilmember Steve Allsop said his main concern was avoiding people taking shortcuts through neighborhoods.

Council is continuing to examine ways to reduce traffic and accidents in the area.
