Youngsters 18 and younger can have access to free meals during a summer lunch program.
The Summer Lunch Program is at two locations, Monday through Friday from June 24 to Aug. 28 in the Sumner School District, according to Ann Cook, district communication director.
Lunches will be served at Daffodil Valley Elmentary cafeteria, 1509 Valley Ave. in Sumner, and Liberty Ridge Elementary Cafeteria, 12202 209th Ave. Court E. in Bonney Lake.
Last year, 6,886 meals were served free at Daffodil Valley Elementary, Cook said.
“This school has been a summer lunch site for a number of years, she said. “Centrally located in downtown Sumner and a busy schedule of academic offerings for students make this a successful and busy lunch program.”
She added last year was the first time the summer lunch program was provided in one of the Bonney Lake area schools and 2,336 meals were served meals.
There were also several other sites providing summer lunches sponsored by the Bonney Lake Food Bank, which gave families a number of options, Cook added.
Cook said no applications for the free lunches are required.
