Citizens hoping to make their neighborhoods safer from crime can do their part by participating in the Bonney Lake chapter of National Night Out on Aug 4.

The event is part of a nationwide effort to raise awareness of crime and drug-prevention and takes place in two neighborhoods in the Bonney Lake area.

The areas in Bonney Lake taking part are Cedar View and Lake Valley.

During the block watch, East Pierce Fire and Rescue firefighters and the police department will travel to the neighborhoods and provide information about keeping the area safe.

The neighborhood event gives residents an opportunity to come together to strengthen their community, according to organizers.

Bonney Lake’s segment of National Night Out goes from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 4.

To register or for more information, contact community service officer Kristine Yanez at 253-863-2218, ext. 261.
