Enslow wins mayor's race

The Pierce County auditor’s latest election results, released Saturday evening, show incumbent Mayor Dave Enslow of Sumnerleading challenger Councilmember Matt Richardson by a margin of 6 percentage points.

“I’m of course very pleased and very gratified,” Enslow said.

He said he is eager to get to work on city projects such as the incoming YMCA.

“I’d like to hope that the voters recognize that in my term as mayor I’ve done a good job and I represent them very well,” Enslow said.

The results show Enslow with 52.81 percent of the vote and Richardson with 46.57 percent with 2,243 total votes cast.

Ed Hannus will continue in Sumner Council Position 1, receiving 57.13 percent of the votes to challenger Stuart Scheuerman’s 42.09 percent, and Councilmembers Randy Hynek and Steve Allsop, who ran unopposed, continue in their positions.

Mike Pavlik and Sherm Voiles, both unopposed, continue in their respective Sumner School District Director positions 1 and 5.

In the Dieringer School District, directors James D. Barfoot, Pete George and John McKenna were all unopposed and will fill positions 1, 3 and 4, respectively.
