The Cascade Water Alliance, the new owner of Lake Tapps, is inviting the public to an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 10 at North Tapps Middle School. Those attending will have the opportunity to learn about Lake Tapps’ future and meet CWA board members and staff.

Cascade purchased Lake Tapps from Puget Sound Energy Dec. 18 for use as a municipal water supply source.

CWA will operate the lake for people, fish and water and – as part of the transfer agreement – commit to keeping the lake at recreation levels during the summer months.

Agreements with the Puyallup Tribe of Indians and the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe will ensure stream flows and enhanced fisheries.

Chuck Clarke, Cascade’s chief executive officer, said the company wants to meet and hear from people living on and near Lake Tapps.

Cascade, along with officials from the state, Pierce County, Auburn, Bonney Lake, Buckley, Sumner, the tribes, the Lake Tapps Task Force and the Lake Tapps Community Council worked together to secure the future of Lake Tapps and future water supplies, environmental stewardship and recreational opportunities.

Those not able to attend the open house can call 425-453-0930 or 1-877-299-0930 for information about CWA and Lake Tapps. Information also can be found by visiting www.cascadewater.org.
