Ugly dogs my not get the attention lavished on cute puppies, but on Saturday all eyes will be on them during the ugliest dog contest as part of the Dog Days event by Kiwanis International.

From noon to 3 p.m. at the Prime Fitness parking lot at 18209 state Route 410 there are information booths, contests and dog health screenings are offered by local veterinarians.

Information at the booths is on spaying or neutering a dog and about Metro Animal Control, which is the animal control organization which recently launched a new Web site and serves Bonney Lake and Sumner.

Besides the ugliest dog contest, which is at 12:30 p.m., a contest for the best dressed dog is at 1 p.m. Registration for both contests begins at noon.
