Bonney Lake man killed during rollover accident in eastern Washington

A Bonney Lake man was killed and two others were injured Friday during a one-car, alcohol-related accident in Grant County.

Harry C. Kirby, 20, died when the car he was riding in failed to negotiate a curve on Steamboat Rock State Park Road and he was thrown from the vehicle. According to a Washington State Patrol report, Kirby was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

He was transported to Coulee Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver, Robert J. Nix, 19, was also transported to Coulee Community Hospital where he was treated for a sore back and neck.

According to the WSP report, alcohol and speed were factors in the accident. Nix is being charged with vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.

A second passenger, Richard A. Bedwell, 19, was also injured in the accident. Bedwell was transported to Coulee Community Hospital and was treated for a broken nose.

The vehicle, a 2001 Toyota pickup, was totaled in the rollover accident.
