Bonney Lake man dies in rollover accident

A Bonney Lake man was killed and two more injured during a one-car, driving under the influence accident in Grant County July 23.

Harry C. Kirby, 20, was killed when the car he was in failed to negotiate a curve on Steamboat Rock State Park Road and Kirby was thrown from the vehicle. According to the police report he was not wearing his seat belt at the time.

He was transported to Coulee Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver, Robert J. Nix, 19, was also transported to Coulee Community Hospital where he was treated for a sore back and neck.

According to the police report, alcohol and speed were factors in the accident. Nix is being charged with vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.

A second passenger, Richard A. Bedwell, 19, was also injured in the accident. Bedwell was transported to Coulee Community Hospital and was treated for a broken nose.

The vehicle, a 2001 Toyota pickup, was totaled in the accident.
