SDA thanks parade float volunteers
April 20, 2012 · 11:21 AM
How do you thank more than a handful of people who worked effortlessly and tirelessly to create a beautiful award winning float for the 2012 Daffodil Festival Parade? How do you show appreciation for their time and energy when words of thanks hardly seem to be enough?
The Sumner Downtown Association (SDA) wishes to convey their thanks and appreciation to the many contributors of the SDA sponsored Sumner Community Float. Upon viewing the float for the first time the morning of the parade, I couldn't believe how incredible the design, content, color and floral arrangements were that would thrill the public that day. Person after person came to me commenting on the extraordinary construction and beauty the float presented.
Each individual volunteer should be proud of this accomplishment as your efforts made it possible for the Sumner Community Float to win not only the Festival Floral Award, but the President?s Award (runner up to the Grand Festival Award) as well.
The Sumner Downtown Association would like to extend their thanks to Ben DeGoede of the Windmill Gardens for leading and organizing the float construction. In addition, SDA would like to thank the following contributors and volunteers for their contribution:
Burr Mosby of Mosby Farms
Sandi Toleson of Sandi?s Signs
Ben DeGoede of Windmill Gardens - Sumner
Jackie Bechtold
Ted and Jan Hackman
Louann Spencer - SDA Treasurer
Lana Hoover,
Chris and Petra Karr
Act 1 Studio
John Swanson
Tracey Critchley/Theresa Flemming - REI
Ed and Carolyn Hanus
Terry Flippen - Artistic Solutions
Sherm Voiles
Tovi Standal
Barbara Ford - SDA President
Laurie Miller - Program Manager
SDA extends an apology to anyone we may have inadvertently overlooked and thank them for their contribution as well. We also acknowledge our beautiful Sumner Daffodil Princess, Carly Lange, for representing Sumner with true grace and warmth. We especially give a BIG THANKS to all those who supported and attended this year's 2012 Daffodil Festival Parade. Without you, this wonderful spring event would not take place. Looking forward to seeing you all once more next year!
