Local teams set for postseason | Basketball news

With the regular season behind them, seven local prep basketball teams are poised for postseason play. In both the South Puget Sound League’s 3A and 2A divisions, district tournaments begin this week and run through Feb. 20. The boys will tip off tonight, Wednesday, and play second-round games Friday; the girls get rolling Thursday and play again Saturday.

A significant development during this turbulent time came Feb. 2 when 16 schools from the West Central District decided to create two new leagues in the 3A classification. With that, both the familiar South Puget Sound League 3A and Narrows League will disappear at the close of the current school year.

The South Puget Sound League 3A subregional wrestling tournament wrapped up Saturday with Enumclaw High placing second, Bonney Lake third and Sumner fourth.
