SHS TENNIS: Spartans prepare for postseason

With the season winding down, Sumner High picked up a 3-2 boys tennis win over Steilacoom Friday.

Before postseason begins, the Spartans were scheduled to close out the regular season Tuesday in a nonleague contest with Bonney Lake; results were not available at press time.

Postseason starts Friday and continues Monday and Tuesday at Clover Park.

Against Steilacoom, it was the doubles teams that came through with Jacob Heuett and Hunter Bleha dropping the first set 6-4 and then winning two straight at 6-2, 6-2. Will Mortell and Scott Brown won 6-4, 6-3, while Delbert Oxborrow and Nathan Santo Domingo won 6-0, 6-2.

Sumner topped Eatonville 4-1 in league play Oct. 4.

Grant Fulton won 6-2, 6-0. Heuett lost the first set 7-6, then won two straight 6-3, 6-2. Mortell and Brown sandwiched 6-2 and 6-1 wins around a 6-0 loss and Alex Landes and Jeff Bidiniy won 6-3, 6-3.
