SLIDESHOW: Spartan doubles spark tennis victory

Sumner High’s girls tennis team took advantage of a rare spring opportunity to get on the courts and beat South Puget Sound League 2A opponent White River 3-2 Thursday.

It was the season opener for both teams.

Sumner earned the decision with three doubles victories.

Taylor Henken and Kyla Anderson defeated Taylor Wombacher and Heidi Lyons 6-1, 6-1. Spartans Jasmine Babcock and Brittany Reid, in the No. 2 slot, defeated Riley Burleigh and Annie Shindle, 6-2, 6-0. At No. 3 doubles, Karina Brown and Nicole Bassen topped Audrey Fravel and MacKenzie Reed, 6-3, 7-5.
