Sumner Baseball: Spartans take strong start against Tyee, falter against Kingston

Sumner High's baseball team took a split in two sub-district tournament games at the end of last week.

The Spartans defeated Tyee 10-0 on Friday and lost to Kingston 11-2 on Saturday.

Versus Tyee, Brandon Boyd had three hits and two runs over three at-bats. He had 2-RBI. Chris Maez had three hits out of four at-bats and 1-RBI.

Luc Powers-Hubbard had two hits out of four at-bats, 2-RBI, and hit one double. Johnny Staley performed similarly over three at-bats.

Boyd pitched six innings, allowing two hits and no runs. He struck out nine Tyee players and walked four.

Elaborated results are not available for the Spartans game against Kingston at this time.

The team played Sequim High School today.
