Eastside Catholic advanced to the semifinals of the Washington Lacrosse Boys State Championship tournament with a Division I quarterfinal win over Lake Tapps, Friday at Pete's Pool Stadium in Enumclaw. With the win, the Crusaders face Saturday's Issaquah, King's Way winner in Wednesday's semifinal.
After holding the Crusaders to just a single goal in the first, Lake Tapps allowed five second-quarter goals as Eastside Catholic took a 6 - 1 lead into the intermission. In the third, the Crusaders added four more to make it 10 - 3 before matching Tapps' two fourth quarter goals to close out the game.
Collin MacIlvennie netted four goals and two assists, while Peter Kimball had three goals in the win.
For lake Tapps, Josh Davenport had two goals and Drew Warner grabbed six ground balls. Jaron Scarbrough and Ben Kelley combined between the pipes for 12 saves.
Eastside Catholic, now 13-3-0 (11-3-0 in the regular season) advances to Wednesday's semifinal with the winner of Saturday's Issaquah, King's Way quarterfinal.
Lake Tapps concludes its season with an 11-4-0 (11-3-0 in the regular season) record.
