Bonney Lake cross country prepping for sub-district meet

The Bonney Lake boys and girls cross country teams are getting ready for the post-season.

This Saturday, the team heads to Steilacoom for the the sub-district meet out at Fort Steilacoom Park, where the team will attempt to qualify to head to the district meet and beyond.

To move on to districts, the boys and girls team needs to be in the top 5 or top 25 individuals.

"We have high hopes to qualify with both teams making it through," Coach Andreew Foster said in an email.

The girls team is hoping to make it to state for the third year in a row, behind Sierra Espinal, Marie Wilson, McKenzie Voellger, Haley Theriault, and Hope Dickson, all of whom qualified for the state meet last year. This seaosn they are joined by newcomers Melissa Arima and Haley Pringle.

The boys team is trying to make it to districts for only the second time in school history, led by returning state qualifier Nolan Weber.

He is joined by Ryan Mcgraw, Eric Voellger, Jacob Bohl, Jacob Curtis, Tyler Free, and Ryan Engledow.

The meet is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
