The White River Hornets kept their record clean Friday with an exciting 1-0, home-field victory over Franklin Pierce High.

The victory pushed the Hornets’ season record to 7-0

The game against the Cardinals appeared headed for a scoreless tie until Evan Robertson scored in the 77th minute off a Ricky Mau assist. Paul Root earned another shutout in goal, playing behind a strong Hornet defense.

White River had picked up a 3-0 nonleague victory April 6 at Timberline High.

The Hornets scored early when Mau knocked in a goal in the fourth minute, then put the game away with two goals in two minutes in the second half. Doing the honors were Nathan Jung and Brandon Cassidy.

White River had one game early this week, traveling to Clover Park, and will host Lakes Friday and Peninsula High Tuesday.
