With a South Puget Sound League 3A record of 2-2-2 through games of last week, the Bonney Lake Panthers find themselves in desperate need of two victories if they hope to see postseason play.
Heading into this final week of regular season play, the Panthers sat in seventh place in the nine-team SPSL 3A. Only the top five will still be playing next week.
The Panthers’ crucial week began Tuesday with a home game against tough Auburn Mountainview and wraps up Friday with a trip down the hill to face the Sumner Spartans. A pair of Panther wins, combined with two-loss weeks by both Enumclaw and Sumner, would allow Bonney Lake to leapfrog both squads and land in the No. 5 slot.
The Panthers took a break from league play Friday to host Wilson High of Tacoma, beating the Rams 2-1 behind a goal by Jordan Billy and a penalty kick by Nick Hall.
On April 28, Bonney Lake fell 3-1 at league-leading White River. Hall scored the Panthers’ lone goal in the 15th minute.
