Enumclaw snags league’s all-sports trophy for 2009
June 1, 2009 · 10:14 PM
With the completion of the spring high school sports season, Enumclaw High has claimed the South Puget Sound League 3A all-sport title.
Each season – fall, winter and spring – points are awarded to each SPSL 3A school, based on team finishes within the league. Those points are tallied to determine a seasonal winner and then a final victor.
This year, Enumclaw High was the first-place finisher for each season. The Hornets won the league title in girls cross country, girls golf, boys basketball, wrestling, baseball and girls tennis and was runner-up in fastpitch and girls track. Of the 20 sports that are included in the tabulation, Enumclaw finished third or higher in 17.
Auburn Mountainview closed out the year in the No. 2 spot. Peninsula was third, Bonney Lake took fourth and Lakes was fifth. Sumner claimed the No. 6 spot with White River right behind at seventh. Franklin Pierce and Clover Park finished eighth and ninth, respectively.
