BLHS FOOTBALL: Panthers explode for 54-0 win over Shelton

The Bonney Lake Panthers exploded for 34 points in the first quarter on the way to a 54-0 non-league football victory over the Class 4A Shelton Highclimbers Friday in Shelton.

Running back Aaron Quevedo opened up the five-touchdown first quarter with a 50-yard run for a 6-0 lead after Bonney Lake missed the point-after kick.

Colton Nash caught a 10-yard TD pass from Cole Schuler and a point-after kick by Shane Risen gave the Panthers a 13-0 margin.

Sam O’Leary returned a fumble 10-yard for a score, then Nash scored on a four-yard run.

The defense tallied another score on Danny Malloy’s 18-yard interception, giving the Panthers a 34-0 lead.

In the second quarter, the Bonney Lake defense scored its third TD of the contest when Damon Laird returned a Shelton fumble 60 yards for a score.

Schuler scored on a one-yard run for a 47-0 lead midway in the third.

The Panther defense, led by Hunter Colegrove, Malloy and Laird, held Shelton to 207 yards of offense.

Tyler Babukas scored on a 32-yard run in the third quarter to close out the scoring.

The Panthers totaled 327 yard of offense. Schuler completed 8 of 14 passes for 139 yards, while Nash finished with five catches for 89 yards. Quevedo rushed for 100 yards on 12 carries.

Bonney Lake will host White River Thursday in South Puget Sound League 3A action at Sunset Chev Stadium. Game time is 7 p.m.
