BONNEY LAKE SOCCER: Panthers opens league with victory

The Bonney Lake High girls won their fourth soccer game this season and opened up South Puget Sound League 3A play with a 3-1 win Sept. 23 at Enumclaw.
The Hornets scored their lone goal in the 34th minute of play as Dani Streuli scored an unassisted goal.
Nine minutes into the second half, Beverly Kobe tied the game with the first of her two goals in the game. Savanna Moorehouse recorded the assist.
In the 58th minute, Kobe scored on Kassandra Blakely’s assist. Moorehouse took a Jenny Dewitz pass and scored the final goal in the 63rd minute.
With the win, the Panthers improved to 4-1-1.
Six different players scored for the Panthers posted a 9-0 shutout over Yelm Sept. 22 in nonleague action at home.
Hillary Colbert scored the game’s first two goals in the fifth and ninth minutes of play. Her first goal came off a Moorehouse assist and the second was assisted by Leslie Cannon.
Hailey Cannon scored in the 11th minute on a Blakely assist and Dewitz scored an unassisted goal in the 17th minute.
Moorehouse drove home a kick in the 18th minute on a Brianna Jones’ assist, then Leslie Cannon scored an unassisted goal in the 28th minute.
Moorehouse scored off a Dewitz assist in the 45th minute, the Dewitz scored off a Colbert assist in the 71st minute. Moorehouse scored her third goal unassisted in the 75th minute.
Goalkeeper Rendi Johnson recorded the shutout.
The Panthers will play at Capital in a nonleague game Thursday, then host Franklin Pierce Tuesday.
