BLHS CROSS COUNTRY: Baumchen posts top time

Bonney Lake’s Brandon Baumchen posted his best time on a 5,000-meter course with a first-place finish against Auburn Mountainview and host Clover Park Oct. 7 in South Puget Sound League 3A cross country action.

The Panthers defeated Clover Park 25-48, but lost to Auburn Mountainview 25-34.

Baumchen’s time was 16 minutes, 49 seconds, beating his previous best time of 16:52. The senior runner was able to keep a comfortable margin ahead of two Auburn Mountainview runners, who took second and third.

Panthers Reed Hawkins took fourth at 17:26 and William Edward was sixth at 17:51.

Veronica Stinnett continued her winning ways with another first-place finish. She ran the course in 19:17, a 17-second improvement from the previous meet.

Marie Wilson was second among the Panthers at 20:51 and Chloe Beal finished with a 21:15.

The Panthers’ final regular season meet is at home today, Wednesday. The SPSL 3A subdistrict meet is Oct. 24 and the district meet is Oct. 27.
