The Sumner High girls soccer squad finally erased the goose egg in the win column last week, trouncing Franklin Pierce and Clover Park to go to 2-1-1 in South Puget Sound League 3A play.
The Spartans blanked Franklin Pierce 4-0 Oct. 13 at Sunset Chev Stadium. Senior striker Kaylee Holloway recorded a hat trick as she scored in the 16th and 22nd minutes of the contest with assists by senior midfielders Alex Murray and Andi Glover respectively. Holloway then completed the hat trick when she tallied an unassisted goal in the 69th minute.
Senior netminder Jordan Swarthout registered her sixth and seventh shutouts of the season as Sumner didn’t allow the Warriors to score either, blanking Clover Park 10-0.
Two different Sumner senior girls managed three-score nights. Holloway notched another triplet and junior middie Kelsey Hansen did as well.
Sumner hosted Lakes Tuesday; results came too late to include here, but will be posted at www.courierherald.com. The Spartans travel to Purdy to battle the Peninsula High Seahawks Thursday night. As of Friday, Peninsula was just below Sumner in the league standings with a 2-1-0 mark.
