BOYS BASKETBALL: Bonney Lake opens season with win, falls to Hornets

Three Panthers scored in double figures Dec. 1 as Bonney Lake High won its season opener 82-65 at North Thurston in nonleague play.
Ramsey Thoms chipped in a game-high 22 points, while Nathan Braun hit 19 and Chad Marquez netted 18.
Behind the trio, Bonney Lake built a 19-13 lead after the first period of play. The Panthers went into intermission with a 40-22 margin.
In the third period, the Panthers went on a 25-12 run.
In their South Puget Sound League 3A opener, the Panthers didn’t fare as well Friday.
Bonney Lake stayed close to the state-ranked Enumclaw High Hornets for the first quarter before Enumclaw went on a 20-11 run and coasted to a 74-38 win.
Enumclaw outscored Bonney Lake 43-18 in the second half.
Chad Marquez led Bonney Lake with a team-high 11 points and Nathan Braun added nine points and nine rebounds.
