The Bonney Lake Panthers took advantage of poor shooting by Clover Park and left Lakewood with a 63-25 win over the Warriors in South Puget Sound League 3A play Friday.

It was Bonney Lake’s fifth straight win this season.

Bonney Lake opened the game with a 15-4 run and took a 28-15 margin into halftime.

The Panthers watched as Clover Park scored only 10 points in the second half, while reeling off 38.

Marcel Pounds led all scorers with a game-high 22 points, while Rani Wiegant hit 11 and Carli Elwin added 10.

Against Peninsula High Dec. 8, the Panthers used a 30-3 run in the third period for a 66-33 SPSL 3A blowout over the Seahawks on the road in Purdy.

Bonney Lake had a 10-point lead at halftime, 27-17, before their third-period explosion.

Pounds scored a season-high 30 points.

The Panthers will travel to Lakewood Thursday to face the Lakes Lancers in a key SPSL 3A matchup.
