BLHS GIRLS WRESTLING: Monahan moves on to regional tournament

Brianna Monahan will represent Bonney Lake High at the 2010 girls wrestling regional tournament Saturday at Emerald Ridge High in Puyallup.
The Panther junior earned her spot at regionals with a runner-up finish Saturday at the South Puget Sound League 3A subregional tournament at Auburn Mountainview High.
Monahan earned her way into the 160-pound finals with a 1-minute, 48-second pin over Enumclaw’s Carson Seitz and then a 10-7 victory over Mount Tahoma’s Anau Kaffuatu. She dropped a 6-5 decision to White River’s Sam Mitchell for the title.
The Panthers finished the day 11th as a team.
Competition Saturday begins at 10 a.m. The top finishers at the region tournament advance to Mat Classic, the state tournament Feb. 19 and 20 in the Tacoma Dome.
